Alexander Ralston, born about 1746¹, was the son of Peter Ralston and Nellie Maxwell, "married Janet Howie, born about 1753², daughter of John Howie and Jean Bain.³ In addition to the lease of Brecklate, Alexander held lease of 1/10 share of Machrimore Mill.4

- 2) Helen; born 19 March 1775 at Southend; married David Ralston.
- 3) Elizabeth; born 1778; married Charles Brown who was born 11 June 1778, the only son of Thomas Brown in North Machrimore and Hellen Dunlop. They had seven children.5
- 4) Janet (Jannet); born 22 June 1780; christened 22 June 1780 at Southend Parish.
- 5) Peter; born 10 November 1785 Southend; married Martha MacFarlane in 1813. They had four children.
- +6) John; christened 5 November 1789 Southend; was a farmer in Achaura and married Isabella Greenlee. They had nine children.
