John BENEDICT was born about 1640 in Southold, Long Island, NY., second child of Thomas Benedict and Mary Bridgum.

He moved with family to Norwalk, Fairfield Co., where John BENEDICT and Phoebe GREGORY were married on 11 Nov 1670. Phoebe GREGORY was daughter of John and Sarah Gregory.

John was a freeman in 1680 and succeeded his father as selectman in 1689. He died at Norwalk, 11 November 1729;

John BENEDICT and Phoebe GREGORY had the following children:¹

1. Sarah BENEDICT, was born 1693.
2. Phoebe BENEDICT, was born 1649 and died 1749.
3. John BENEDICT, was born on 3 Mar. 1676 in Norwalk, Fairfield, CT. He died on 16 Jan. 1766 in Norwalk, Fairfield, CT.
4. Jonathan BENEDICT.
5. Benjamin BENEDICT, was born in 1678.
6. Joseph BENEDICT.
7. James BENEDICT, was born Jan. 5, 1685.
8. Thomas BENEDICT, was born in 1682.
