John BENEDICT was born on 3 Mar. 1676 in Norwalk, CT., second child of John Benedict and Phoebe Gregory. He died on 16 Jan. 1766 in Norwalk, Fairfield Co., CT. He was selectman in 1705 and 1715; surveyor 1709 and 1711; lister and fence viewer 1713-18; called serjeant in 1717; townsman 1722 and 1724; Deacon before 1725, which office he held for many years.

He married, Mary (HAITE?) who died on 5 June 1749 in Norwalk, Fairfield Co., CT., age 72.

John BENEDICT and Mary (HAITE?) had the following children:¹

1. John BENEDICT was born in 1701. He died on 27 Feb 1770.
2. Matthew BENEDICT, born Oct. 2, 1703 and died July 7, 1757.
3. Caleb BENEDICT, born 1709.
4. Nathaniel BENEDICT, born 1716 and died April 2, 1808.
5. Hannah, (or Anna), BENEDICT, married Matthew Gregory and moved to Danbury, Fairfield Co., CT.
6. Phoebe BENEDICT, married April 4, 1731 to Ezra Hoyt.
